The most expensive thing I own? Junior.

Oh, for Pete's sake....when will Aunt Flow come????!!!!  She's turning me into a raging bitch (on the inside, I've done a fairly good job of internalizing MOST things).  I get up to find that she still hasn't arrived.  After having the normal "talk" w/ Cal about getting his butt out of bed and brushing his teeth, I go down to the basement.  Here's thing #1 that made my mind go crazy....  There's Brian's dirty towel from this morning, laying on the last step down.  For years I've been on him about not throwing his dirty towels on the bed, and he's gotten better...but really?  You can't walk it down to the towel laundry basket???  I come back up to get Cal some more motivation, so he can snap out of "Caleb time," and go to feed Junior.  His food bin was EMPTY (thus thing #2 that made me go crazy).  I was at spin class last night, so Brian fed him.  We keep the big bin of food downstairs, and the smaller one upstairs.  Brian never feels the need to fill it....In fact, if he's emptied it and feeds him again, he'll walk down and just add it to the bowl.  Really????  So, once again I'm pissed.  I go down and fill up the upstairs food bin.  Now, here's #3....  We have to hide Junior's meds in cheese or bread or something, so that he'll take them.  Last night I noticed, all of Jr's meds in the bottom of his bowl.  I told Brian he needed to put them in something, so Jr. would eat them.  (We've had this conversation a MILLION times).  He said he would.  So, I pick up Junior's bowl....and then there's the fucking meds from last night.  Now, Jr. takes 10 meds a day...it's kind of a big deal that he actually take them...you know, so he doesn't seizure or, so he can move his back end...  I know I sound like a total cunt, but I totally needed to vent.  I'm p.m.s.'ing, and this shit just gets to me.  Can you imagine if Brian were home today, how bad it would be?

After I took the boys to school, Jr. had a vet appt.  Our other vet moved, and I didn't like his replacement, so we went to the Vet here in town.  Now, let me tell you....this is old country vet.  It was such a different experience....  He seems to know what he's doing, though, so I'll probably give him another try.  He'll be calling back w/ some liver test results this afternoon, anyway.  Yes, another huge vet bill.  But I can honestly say, it's the one bill I don't get upset about.  He's my baby.  Hopefully we get all good news today :)

So, the vet called today, and didn't have good news about Jr.  Basically his liver test range should be between 20-100, but his is 472....  He's also got some cancerous things that showed up.  The vet asked if I wanted to choose quality of life, or take him off of his pain meds, which may be affecting the liver #'s.  I chose quality of life.  I don't think it's the meds, as his tests have always been fine w/ them.  I know he's old, but he's still my baby.  He's still happy, as the vet pointed out.  We'll just continue to try and keep him happy and comfortable.

I made a new soup today: pumpkin Thai  It was super easy, and it wasn't too bad.  I put it over some brown rice, and cheated by putting a dollup of sour cream on there.  Next time I need to add more herbs, to give it more of a kick.  I'll add the recipe.

I hope you all have a great weekend.  Yay!  It's Friday!
