So, I was up most of the night (somewhere between 3 & 4) telling myself all of the reasons I shouldn't do this, but the bottom line is....I need to do something and something drastic at that...so here I am!  Because I was up most of the night, I didn't get my fat ass up until about 10.  Once I was finally up, I took Junior for a 1 mile walk (it's all he can handle anymore).  Had breakfast (I'll list all food below), cleaned the kitchen, and now here I am.  Ready to make a fool of myself.  I'll update as the day goes on.  My promise to you, is to try and do this every day.  Hopefully your promise to me, will be to hold me to my promise.  I looks like you can add comments below, so feel free to give me an ass kicking or add some inspiration.  I'd like to follow a Vegan diet as closely as possible.
10:30  Breakfast:  blueberries and a banana, 2 glasses of water
11:00  Caffeine free Diet Coke   (I know...I need to get off the heroin!)
12:00  Wheat English muffins w/ peanut butter
2:15  Wheat pita w/ single packet of hummus and spinach, spring mix, and celery.
Baby Carrots
Sparkling water w/ lime
6:30  Dinner: 2 tacos (crunchy corn shells, Morning Star crumbles, homemade guac, 1/2 tomato, black olives), 2/3 cup red beans and rice, cucumber
Caffeine Free Diet Coke-once again, heroin.
7:45  Took Junior for another 1 mile walk, brought him home, and went 4 more miles.  Feels good.  Walking is my favorite thing to do.

Staci-  Hi, great questions.  If I do a good job of following a Vegan diet, I don't worry too much about making sure I'm getting enough of certain vitamins, fats, etc.  I just make sure to eat a diet w/ lots of color and raw veggies & fruits.  If I do that, the rest falls into place.  I do make sure to try and eat some beans every day to ensure enough protein (also can get through raw nuts).  I also take B12 and Vit D to make sure I get enough of those things, as they are mostly found in animal products.  Let me know if you have any more questions.

Jen: I have to say that I admire your courage! To put everything out there certainly brings a new aspect of reality that everyone should respect! I look very forward to reading this every day and I wish you all the best as you start this new journey.

Thank you. I agree with Tara. This does take courage but I applaud you for doing this. Your journey will continue to motivate me. I am going to go get the book so I can refer to it as well. I have been seeing a personal trainer (several of them) over the last year so I have been provided lots of advise/direction. Not sure how much of it is accurate. One constant seems to be that nutrition is the priority. What have you chosen to guide your nutrition? Are you ensuring that you are getting the proper balance of protein, good carbs and good fats? Hope you don't mind the advise/questions...

OK,
1st. I am SO PROUD of you for putting yourself out there. That alone shows the inner strength & desire you have to do this! You are amazing and inspiring. I Love You!

2nd. You have to eat more often & a better balance of Carbs, Proteins & Fats

remember: You can't build a fire without

Paper - Carbs
Kindling - Protein
Logs - Fat

Call me if you forget what I said to you about this ok! Anyone reading this can call me anytime. If it is a number I don't know I won't answer so text me your number first so I can store it in my phone. Melinda - 310-804-0355

Why? because there are two ways to become and staying over weight.
Overeating & UNDER eating! Most people don't know if you don't feed your muscles with nutrients, they Body uses your muscles as energy and stores what you eat as fat! You need to get that metabolism moving and right now is it barely burning. JUST for me to be typing this, I have to be getting energy from somewhere, either from food or my muscle. If you have ever been around our cousin Cole for any length of time...The guy eats ALL the time. His metabolism is def. working...he feeds it all the time. You need to eat within 30 min. of waking up and then every two hours after...eat breakfast, lunch, dinner make sure you have all three...Carbs, Protein & Fat (your fire) in each major meal and a snack in between each. You might have to prepare some food ahead of time as well as snacks...I trained a girl last summer and she thought I was absolutely bonkers when I told her this. UNTIL she lost 30 lbs. the first month.

Walking is great, incorporate some weights or use your couch for tricep dips, Use anything you can to work out, a brick, Huge rock, throw rocks into those fields, get a bag of potatos and sit on a kitchen chair and stand up 3 sets of 20. I am going to send you some resistant bands so you can switch up your workouts. What most of us do is what is easy and normal for us...YOU have to switch your workouts up...be creative, even folding clothes can be a work out if you want it to be.

I love you and again, I will support you in anyway I can. NOW go eat something! :)

You are a brave woman my dear friend. I know just what you mean about self doubt. It's such a killer. You have so much willpower I am jealous. I can't go vegan, but I will attempt to do better in my food choices. I am terribly unhealthy. (I'd rather skip dinner so I can eat ice cream.) I do a reasonable job w/the kids, but me? Not even close. You are helping me to get off my a$$ and do something. I will continue to check in with your blog - it isn't narcissistic, it's group therapy!
*You are a terrific, loyal friend and I love you!
