The perfect amount of drinks?

Ah, the weekend!  It's funny how our lives seem to revolve around just 2 out of 7 days in a week.  Weekends don't include doing a long ass commute.  I'm not sitting at a desk all day doing something I don't have any passion for.  And when you finally get home from that long commute, you're rushing to get the boys to their activities, which don't get you home for the rest of the night until after 8.  Don't get me wrong; I still enjoy most days of the week.  It's just hard to relax and pardon the lame term: smell the roses.  Our lives are so crazy busy.....  Yesterday morning I was just laying there (one of my fave things to do on the weekend :)  And for the first time since my Denver trip, I started to think about it.  I started to remember the quiet of waking up at a campground.  I started to remember the relaxation of the camp fire.  I started to remember having a couple of days without feeling the weight of the world on my shoulders.  The trip seems like it was a year ago, when in reality, it was like 6 weeks ago.  It's ashame we all can't hold onto those things: a relaxing vacation, or a nice weekend.  It's like as soon as it's over, we're so busy going about our robotic lives, that it's like our relaxing time never existed.  That sucks.  I need to get better about just kicking back and thinking about the things that bring comfort to this jumbled brain of mine.  I need to remember things that make me smile, when really I just want to ram my loser cruiser into the tractor that's on the hwy, going 20 mph, when I need to get to work.  I guess that'll be my homework for the week.  This has been a nice weekend, and I want to reflect upon it and take it in, in little bits and pieces during the week.

Saturday really was a great day.  I lounged around a lot of the morning, while slipping in a little time here and there for cleaning and laundry.  I took a nice long bath, and got my hairy legs shaved.  I played Words with some good friends on my phone.  Oh, I made Brian and I "chocolate smoothies" -see recipe.   Brian loves those.  It was really a frigid day outside, so B and I were in no hurry to take a walk.  We finally got all bundled up around 2 and took a nice hour long walk.  After we got back, we actually went out on our own (no kids!)  It's not often that the two of us can get out together.  Nothing spells 20 years together over excitement over a $5 coupon to Sports Bar and Grill.  We hadn't been, so we were excited to check it out.  We were the only ones in there, and there was nothing on the menu I could eat while remotely staying on my eating plan.  We opted to live dangerously and have the nachose w/ no meat.  The nachos had a mix of real cheese and that saucy crap.  I ate more than I should have, but less than I normally would've.  I knew it wasn't worth it.  I also had a nice cold, Stella.  We left without spending the $25 we needed to for the coupon, but we went to our proven ground.  It's a nice bar/restaurant just across the street from where we were.  We really like the place, but it's kinda spendy.  Anyway, we had the greatest sliders (portobello w/ tofu and this great sauce).  They came with 3 tempura onion rings, and then we got a Greek flatbread.  It was all so freaking good....but of course not at all healthy.  Thank God I'd been really good all day.  I also had (2) 20 oz. Bud Lights.  I was feeling pretty "happy" when we left.  We decided to just come home and hide in the room.  The boys were happily playing the XBox, which we'd moved to the big t.v. in the living room.  They were under direct order to let us take a nap....  It was such a great afternoon with my husband.  We really do love being around each other and just hanging out.  We are amazing friends among everything else.  Anyway, apparently 3 beers was the magic #.  I fell asleep about 7.  I didn't wake up until 11:30, and I was like wtf....this just doesn't happen that often.  Anyway, I didn't get my fat ass out of bed until 7 this morning.  The only drawback to falling asleep like that, is my teeth didn't get brushed and my face did not get washed.  I woke up with the taste of beer and garlic in my mouth: yuck!  And a few nice little red bumps on face.  You'd think you'd have that outgrown at 40, but no such luck.

Today is going to be fairly busy.  Ryne's football team is playing for 3rd place today about an hour from here.  We'll be gone all afternoon and into the early evening.  It'll be nice, though.  He's sure grown to love playing football.

Hope the rest of your weekend bring you all the peace you could hope for.

Jen
